The Last Yard Logistics vans lined up at the start of a shift
Careers

Good routes. Straight answers. Paid on time.

We are a small fleet that plans properly. That means your day is sequenced before you turn the key, someone picks up when you call, and your money lands when we said it would.

Why drivers stay

What working here actually looks like

Every delivery company promises a friendly team. Here is the specific, checkable version.

Routes planned before you start

Your drops are sequenced the night before, not thrown at you at 7am. You leave the yard knowing where you finish.

Paid weekly, on the day

Employed drivers weekly by BACS. Owner-drivers self-bill weekly, no 60-day terms and no chasing an accounts inbox.

Vans that are looked after

Euro 6, ULEZ-compliant, serviced on schedule and kitted with straps, blankets, a sack truck and full PPE. Fuel card included.

Someone answers when you ring

Locked gate, no answer, blocked loading bay — you get a person on the phone in seconds, not a message in an app queue.

Realistic hours

Rounds are built around a sensible day, not a stopwatch. If a route consistently overruns, we re-plan it rather than expect you to absorb it.

Backed up when it goes wrong

Breakdown cover, a clear damage process and a manager who deals with the customer. You are not left arguing on a doorstep.

Open roles

Three ways to join the fleet

Pay bands are shown honestly and up front. What you earn depends on the round, not on a negotiation you have to win.

The kit you get

You are not being handed a tired van

Peugeot Boxer L3H2 and Citroën Relay high-roof panel vans. Full standing height inside, straps and blankets on board, a sack truck in the back and a phone mount that actually holds your phone.

What we need from you

The checklist

Nothing unusual. If you can tick these, we would like to hear from you.

  • Full UK driving licence held at least two years, six penalty points or fewer
  • Right to work in the UK and proof of address
  • Confident with a long-wheelbase van in London traffic and tight loading bays
  • Willing to complete a DBS check — we cover the cost
  • Presentable, polite and happy to speak to customers — you are the company on the doorstep
  • Owner-drivers only: Euro 6 LWB van, hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit cover, public liability and a UTR number

Driver questions

The things people ask before applying

It helps, but it is not essential. What matters more is that you are comfortable driving a long-wheelbase van in London and that you are the sort of person who rings ahead rather than leaving a card. Your first rounds are shadowed so you learn the system before you run it alone.

A typical multi-drop round is 45 to 55 stops, sequenced to keep the mileage sensible. Dedicated and same-day work is far fewer drops over longer distances. If a route is consistently overrunning we re-plan it rather than expecting you to make the time up.

A Euro 6, ULEZ-compliant long-wheelbase high-roof van, hire-and-reward insurance, goods-in-transit cover, public liability cover and a UTR number. We will ask to see all of it before your first route, and we will tell you honestly if something is missing rather than letting you start and finding out later.

Employed drivers are paid weekly by BACS. Owner-drivers are self-billed weekly, so you do not need to raise an invoice or chase anyone. There are no 30 or 60-day payment terms and no deductions that were not agreed before you started.

You report it, we handle the customer. Accidental damage on a properly loaded and strapped consignment is a business cost, not something we take out of your pay. Repeated or negligent damage is a conversation, but it is a conversation — not a surprise deduction.

Yes. Weekend-only and ad-hoc cover are both regular arrangements here, and several of our drivers started that way before moving to a full round. Apply through the form and say which days you can do.
